RUTHERFORD BEACH GULF OF MEXICO, Creole, LA 70632

The beach cleanup event will provide local support to an area in southwest Louisiana recently devastated by two major hurricanes, Laura and Delta during the 2020 hurricane season. Participants should plan to arrive between 7:00-7:30am to gather clean-up materials and locate their site assignments. Trash removal will occur 1-mile east and approximately 5 miles west of Rutherford Beach Road, totaling 6 miles of coastline and restoring approximately 300 acres of open beach and upper coastal dune habitat. Participants will be provided with latex gloves, trash bags, water, individually wrapped snack items, and hand sanitizer. This event will be strictly outdoors and all participants will be required to adhere to the state and local Covid-19 guidelines, including maintaining social distancing, sanitizing hands frequently, and wearing a face covering (when appropriate) to ensure the safety of our volunteers and local communities.
