SPECIAL MEETING
AUGUST 23, 2017
The Cameron Parish Police Jury met in an emergency special session on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, in the Grand Lake Conference Center in the Village of Grand Lake, Louisiana at
6:00 P.M. The following members were present: Mr. Kirk Quinn, Mr. Davey Doxey, Mr. Anthony Hicks, Mr. Joe Dupont, Mr. Lawrence Faulk and Mr. Darryl Farque. Mr. Curtis Fountain and Mr. Terry Beard were absent. In the absence of the Mr. Fountain, Mr. Dupont, Vice-President Conducted the meeting. It was moved by Mr. Faulk, seconded by Mr. Doxey and carried, due to the approaching Tropical System Harvey, the board hereby authorizes Danny Lavergne, Cameron Parish OHSEP Director, to call an evacuation of the threatened areas of Cameron Parish should conditions warrant during the duration of this storm event. It was moved by Mr. Faulk, seconded by Mr. Quinn and carried, that the board hereby ratifies the following emergency declaration proclamation as signed by Cameron Parish Police Jury President, Curtis Fountain and is declared duly adopted:

TROPICAL SYSTEM HARVEY
AUGUST 23-27, 2017
WHEREAS, Cameron Parish has been placed under a Storm Surge Warning as of August 23, 2017; and
WHEREAS, due to the approaching Tropical System Harvey that may produce localized heavy rains and high tide, widespread property damage may result from flooding of most roadways and waterways in the Parish of Cameron; and
WHEREAS, onset and duration of tropical storm force winds, could cause widespread property damage and threaten human life; and
WHEREAS, immediate emergency action may be required to minimize the potential effects to human life and property in the Parish of Cameron; and WHEREAS, the area involved may be in need of emergency action, support and funding to respond to this flooding event
NOW, THEREFORE, I Curtis Fountain, Cameron Parish Police Jury President by the authority vested in me by the Louisiana Homeland Security and Emergency Assistance and Disaster Act, as amended, which may prevail, do hereby proclaim a State of Emergency to exist in the parish of Cameron effective August 23, 2017, for a period not to exceed thirty (30) consecutive days, and that all Emergency Preparedness plans have been activated. It is further WHEREAS, immediate emergency action may be required to minimize the potential effects to human life and property in the Parish of Cameron; and WHEREAS, the area involved may be in need of emergency action, support and funding to respond to this flooding event NOW, THEREFORE, I Curtis Fountain, Cameron Parish Police Jury President by the authority vested in me by the Louisiana Homeland Security and Emergency Assistance and Disaster Act, as amended, which may prevail, do hereby proclaim a State of Emergency to exist in the parish of Cameron effective August 23, 2017, for a period not to exceed thirty (30) consecutive days, and that all Emergency Preparedness plans have been activated. It is further announced that Danny Lavergne has been designated as the point of contact for all responsible activities relating to this emergency. THIS NOTICE IS EFFECTIVE AUGUST 23, 2017 and shall continue in effect for a period of thirty (30) consecutive days, and/or until extended by Danny Lavergne, Cameron Parish OHSEP Director.
