Cameron Parish, LA,  — The Cameron Parish Beachfront Development Districts 1 and 2 are proud to announce their participation in the International Coastal Cleanup on September 21st, 2024. This global event, organized by the Ocean Conservancy, aims to engage communities in cleaning up beaches, rivers, and waterways to promote environmental stewardship and protect marine life.

Residents, visitors, and volunteers from all walks of life are invited to join the effort to keep Cameron Parish’s beautiful coastlines clean and pristine. The cleanup will take place along various stretches of the parish’s beaches, including popular spots like Rutherford Beach and Holly Beach.

Event Details:

  • Date: September 21, 2024
  • Time: Cleanup 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM. Lunch 11:30 AM-1:00 PM
  • Locations: Rutherford Beach, Holly Beach, and other designated beaches in Johnson Bayou.

Participants will be provided with gloves, trash bags, and data cards to record the types of litter collected. The information gathered will contribute to a global database that helps researchers and policymakers address marine debris issues.

In addition to the cleanup, lunch will be provided to volunteers, along with giveaways as a token of appreciation for their hard work.

How to Participate:

  • Register online below or sign up on the day of the event at the registration table.
  • Wear comfortable clothing, sun protection, and closed-toe shoes.
  • Water will be supplied, or you may bring your reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
